Coloniality of Power and International Students Experience: What are the Ethical Responsibilities of Social Work and Human Service Educators?

چکیده

This article explores theoretical responses to the living structures of dominance and subordination within modern postcolonial societies, highlighting racialised international students’ experiences Australian universities. Drawing on coloniality power border thinking, it seeks address ethical responsibilities for social work human service educators from author’s positioning as a non-Western immigrant ‘Other’, experience belonging an educator future practitioners in Australia. Utilising autoethnographic qualitative study, offers great insight into systemic nature discrimination tertiary education institutions. It suggests need critical, self-reflexive awareness about legacies colonialism hegemonic whiteness permeate profession education. article, thus, enables decolonising minds, securing informed understanding, initiating shift way non-white (and non-Western) students are seen, constructed, understood contemporary (Western) societies.
